FAQs
How much does a 5 panel bifold door cost?
Our made-to-measure 5 panel aluminium bifold doors start from £2,194 + VAT, with the final price depending on size, glazing specification, colour and hardware. As a 5 panel set typically spans a 5–6m opening, this is also a popular choice for a 5m bifold door. Use our door builder to configure yours and get a free, no-obligation quote.
What size is a 5 panel bifold door?
They're made to measure to fit your opening, available in heights up to 2200mm, 2400mm and 2600mm. With each of the five panels up to 1200mm wide, a 5 panel set spans up to around 6m in total width, configured precisely to your space.
What is the rough opening for a 5 panel bifold door?
Because our doors are made to measure, there’s no fixed rough opening — the frame is manufactured to fit your structural aperture. Measure the brick-to-brick opening (width and height) and we’ll build to it, allowing the correct installation tolerance. A 5 panel set suits openings up to around 6m wide. See our measuring guide for step-by-step help.
Which is better, uPVC or aluminium bifold doors?
Aluminium is generally the stronger choice for bifolds, especially at wider spans. It carries larger panes with much slimmer 107mm sightlines, spans wider openings, resists warping and lasts longer, giving a more premium finish. uPVC is usually cheaper upfront but uses bulkier frames and isn't as strong, so aluminium is preferred where light, span and longevity matter.
Are aluminium bifold doors good?
Yes — aluminium is one of the best materials for bifold doors. It's strong enough to carry large panes of glass with slim 107mm sightlines, is corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance and long-lasting, and delivers excellent thermal performance with U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K. Ours are backed by a 10-year warranty.
How secure are 5 panel bifold doors?
Our bifold doors come with 6-point locking and toughened glass as standard, with PAS 24 certification available as an option, all set within a robust aluminium frame designed for external security.
How energy efficient are they?
They achieve U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K and a Door Energy Rated (DER) band B, using thermally broken aluminium profiles and high-performance glazing from 28mm to 44mm (double or triple) to keep heat in and reduce energy bills.
Are 5 panel bifold doors weatherproof?
Yes. Our bifold doors are independently rated for UK weather, achieving Class 4 for air permeability, Class 9A for water tightness and Class A3 for wind load resistance — so they stay draught-free, watertight and stable even in exposed conditions.
What colours are available?
Our 5 panel bifold doors come in three standard colours — black, anthracite grey and white — with custom RAL colours available on request to match any property.
