Three steps to measure up your bifold door

Step one

Take at least three height measurements across the width of the aperture. If unequal, use the smallest measurement.

Step two

Take at least three width measurements up the height of the aperture. If unequal, use the smallest measurement.

Step three

Check the aperture is square by measuring the two diagonals, which should be equal.

About the opening

The aperture for your NOW Aluminium bifold doors must be structurally sound, carefully measured, square, and symmetrical. Key points to consider:

  • Ensure a relatively flat, level bottom, vertical sides, and a solid head.
  • Small variances can be accommodated – mention these when placing your order.
  • Check if the bottom and top surfaces are level, and the vertical sides perpendicular.
  • Measure from corner to corner – if these figures are the same, your opening is square.

Remember, for an initial quote, measurements don't need to be 100% accurate. We allow a tolerance of 15mm from the initial quotation. Final measurements will be confirmed before manufacturing begins.

Measuring height and width

When taking measurements:

  • Take 3 or 4 measurements every 500mm-750mm from the exterior of the building.
  • Measure from the blockwork, brickwork, or foundation/slab where the bottom track will sit.
  • If measurements aren't identical, provide us with the smallest figure.
  • Take measurements from where the door frame will be positioned.

If you're unsure at any stage, don't hesitate to contact us. We'll confirm all sizes before manufacturing begins, as accuracy is crucial. While we can't take responsibility for inaccurate measurements, we're here to help homeowners and self-builders with any questions.
