What size is a 6 panel bifold door?
They're made to measure to fit your opening, available in heights up to 2200mm, 2400mm and 2600mm. With each of the six panels up to 1200mm wide, a 6 panel set spans up to around 7.2m in total width, configured precisely to your space.
What is the rough opening for a 6 panel bifold door?
Because our doors are made to measure, the rough opening is simply your structural aperture — measure the brick-to-brick opening (width and height) and we build the frame to fit, allowing the correct installation tolerance. The number of panels scales with the width: a 6 panel set suits openings up to around 7.2m, whereas a narrow opening of around 6 feet (1.8m) would typically use a 2–3 panel door. Are aluminium bifold doors good?
Yes — aluminium is one of the best materials for bifold doors, particularly at wider spans. It's strong enough to carry large panes of glass with slim 107mm sightlines, is corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance and long-lasting, and delivers excellent thermal performance with U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K. They achieve U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K and a Door Energy Rated (DER) band B, using thermally broken aluminium profiles and high-performance glazing from 28mm to 44mm (double or triple) to keep heat in and reduce energy bills.
Are 6 panel bifold doors weatherproof?
Yes. Our bifold doors are independently rated for UK weather, achieving Class 4 for air permeability, Class 9A for water tightness and Class A3 for wind load resistance — so they stay draught-free, watertight and stable even in exposed conditions.
